Wat Basseat Temple

Very little remains of Wat Basseat, an 11th century temple, which is located around 15km from Battambang. However, if you have the time it is worth visiting as again the trip out to it is stunning.


When you arrive you will probably find you are the only visitor and will arouse the interest of the locals who find it hard to believe anyone bothers coming here! Until the 1970's there was more to see but the Khmer Rouge destroyed much of it until they were interrupted by "ghosts"! What you see now is what the ghosts saved! Next to the temple is an ancient pond which holds water all year round
